Tapestry Proposal

Motivation:

"Little by little, one travels far." -J.R.R Tolkien
What does this quote mean?: You move faster and farther if you take your time using baby step you'll achieve greater.

The two sides of motivation: By saying taking little steps you'll travel farther than taking large steps J.R.R Tolkien is motivating his readers to take ones time when doing things. If it was unmotivational he wouldn't help people in their lives to take their time.

Examples:
1. Pocahontas- Disney (movie)
2. Mulan- Disney (movie)
3. Anastasia - Warner Bros. (movie)
4. Dancer- Vickie Sears- (short story)

""Remember what Bilbo used to say: It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.""-Bilbo Baggins

What does this quote mean?: I took it as when you step into life if you don't keep your feet planted you may get swept off to anywhere life may take you even places you may not want to end up.

The two sides of motivation: Bilbo knows that the adventure Frodo is about to embark in is a dangerous but he also relates it to every day situations. He is motivating Frodo without scaring him to just make sure he keeps his feet planted so he doesn't get swept off to places he doesn't want to end up. To also keep his head straight and make good choices. Without motivating him to keep his feet planted who knows what might have happened to Frodo, or where he may have been swept off to.

Examples:
1. Lord of the Rings- (book/movies)
2. Lion King- Disney (movie)
3. Harry Potter- Warner Bros.- (movie)
4. Notebook- (movie)

  1. This is an interesting choice of theme. Hopefully you will be motivated to continue after this strong start.

Make sure that you look at the motivations of people/characters rather than the author himself or herself acting as motivation.

You may even want to look at the cause and effect of motivation. Or the internal r external motivating factors for people/characters.
